The painting is inspired by disconnecting with the external world and re-connecting with our heart, mind, purpose, and intentions.
Many of my eye-opening moments happened during a walk in the forest while I was travelling alone. There would be absolute silence, no birds, no sound of cars, no people, no noise whatsoever. All I could hear were my own footsteps and thoughts.
In our normal daily lives, we’re constantly on the go, distracted, consuming information and being pulled by the world and what it expects from us.
During those absolute silent moments in the forest, I experienced uncomfortableness and wished the silence would end. But I later realised how healing those walks were. It allowed me to analyse things that were stuck in my mind, emotions I had to process, I could figure out why I felt angry or sad without anyone telling me what they think. I learned to trust my inner voice and make changes according to what felt right to me.
