This painting is inspired by our unconsious habits and not being intentional with our time and energy.
When we live in survival mode, we react to our environment and make every decision out of fear.
This means that we feel out of control and don’t think we can make a change for ourselves.
When uncomfortable feelings come up, we distract ourselves with any external thing we can find. Our phone, work, surround ourselves with people, shopping, eating, all the types of entertainment.
By learning mindfulness (being fully aware of everything happening in the present moment), we slowly understand that we are fully in control of how we spend our time, energy and how we respond to our environment.
This picnic setting is a beautiful representation of that.
To spend time in the present moment means connecting with the people around you, with your environment, with yourself, to notice the beauty that’s right in front of you.
How we spend each day is how we spend the rest of our lives.
